Internships at BCHD: Opportunities for College Students
Monday, August 1, 2016

Each year, Beach Cities Health Districts (BCHD) provides learning opportunities to students with a variety of internships. During the 2015-16 academic year, BCHD hosted 50 interns from 16 different schools. These students worked on research projects, helped our communications department with social media campaigns, received experience as personal trainers, assisted with our policy initiatives, compiled and analyzed data, taught classroom activity breaks to elementary students, and much more!

BCHD is one of the largest preventive health agencies in the nation and our staff works closely with interns to provide real-life experience on resume-worthy projects. 96% of the surveyed students who interned with us this past year said they would recommend interning with BCHD to others!

In the following months, we are preparing to host interns for the fall semester. Some internships we will offer include: Program Development (Blue Zones Project), Policy (Blue Zones Project), School Health Education (Youth Services), Research & Evaluation, Health Communications, Personal Training and more. If you know any college students interested in public health, encourage them to visit our website www.bchd.org/volunteer after August 15th for detailed information about fall semester internships!
