Meet BCHD’s Community Services Team
Monday, May 18, 2020

Melissa is the Director of Community Services and when she is not pridefully leading her team and the operations for the department, she loves spending time with her two daughters Naomi and Maya and her husband Jared, taking walks and having dance parties. She also enjoys traveling to Colorado to watch the Denver Broncos play!

Michael is the Care Management Coordinator who has supported care management clients at BCHD for 20 years. Michael enjoys reading, writing and history. He enjoys hanging out with his twin 18-year-old boys and wife Laura and going for walks.

Sherry is a Care Manager who is originally from Canada. Under normal circumstances, Sherry loves to travel the world and other local areas, take photos, make homemade cards and go to the movies. Physical distancing isn’t new for Sherry – she’s been keeping in touch with friends and family from a distance for 20 years!

Charlotte is a Care Manager who supports Manhattan Beach clients and loves running, jogging or walking – but always with a destination in mind. She’s a hot yoga enthusiast and a Mira Costa alum.

Rosalie is a Care Manager who grew up in Michigan, and she loves to be near the ocean since it reminds her of Lake Michigan (except for the sharks). You’ll find her having a sing and dance party with her 7-year-old son in her living room or taking walks in her neighborhood.

Jennefer is a Care Manager and is able to provide support in both English and Spanish. She loves hula hooping and dislikes Oreos. She enjoys live music and traveling.

Joy is a Care Manager and loves volunteering with her family, and they have cared for children from Afghanistan as part of the Solace for the Children organization and helped build homes in Mexico. Currently, they are helping families impacted by homelessness through South Bay Family Promise.

Diana is an Intake Specialist and Certified Enrollment Counselor and is the friendly voice on the other end of the 256 support line. She is also able to provide support in English and Spanish. Diana thinks everything tastes better with hot sauce on it and she refuses to give in to the Apple, i-stuff obsession. Androids rule!

Joseph is an Intake Assistant and a Certified Enrollment Counselor. He’s also a dog dad to Domingo, who is a frequent four-legged friend at the BCHD office. He loves plants and vegetables and is on his fourth attempt at a home garden and is hopeful that this time will be successful!

Syd is an Administrative Assistant and a fishing world record holder three time over. Her name is published in the International Game Fish Association World Record book for catching two halibut and one calico bass on specific line test categories. She caught the two halibut records on the same day, in the same spot, exactly five years apart. Her husband, John, was her captain.

Tara is the Community Programs Coordinator and facilitates support groups and coordinates the Healthy Minds Initiative. She enjoys spending time with her adorable son Bo and taking walks by the beach. She practices yoga for self-care and providing obedience training to her dog, Sophia.
