Walking Wednesdays

On Hold for 2020-21
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Walking Wednesdays is currently on hold.  In the meantime, BCHD converted its school-based programs to virtual formats.  Please visit bchd.org/schools-and-parents/daily-morning-activities for kid-friendly, 8-Minute Exercise videos.

Walking Wednesdays encourages families to walk with their children to school, thereby helping to reduce car traffic and increasing social connections. The program occurs on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on the elementary school. While walking is the focus of Walking Wednesdays, other forms of active transportation like biking, scootering or skateboarding are also encouraged.

We welcome all Beach Cities students and families to participate in this program. Walking Wednesdays does not require registration, volunteers or an assigned “bus route.”

Virtual International Walk to School Day
The 23rd annual International Walk to School Day took place on Wednesday, October 7, 2020! Due to COVID-19, Beach Cities Health District held a virtual event to mark the occasion. Families were encouraged to walk together at any time convenient for them.  It was a great way for everyone to be active!
