Walking Wednesdays

On Hold for 2021-22
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Walking Wednesdays is currently on hold.  In the meantime, BCHD converted its school-based programs to virtual formats.  Please visit bchd.org/schools-and-parents/daily-morning-activities for kid-friendly, 8-Minute Exercise videos.

Walking Wednesdays encourages families to walk with their children to school, thereby helping to reduce car traffic and increasing social connections. The program occurs on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on the elementary school. While walking is the focus of Walking Wednesdays, other forms of active transportation like biking, scootering or skateboarding are also encouraged.

We welcome all Beach Cities students and families to participate in this program. Walking Wednesdays does not require registration, volunteers or an assigned “bus route.”

International Walk to School Day
The 25th annual International Walk to School Day took place on Wednesday, October 6, 2021! Although Walk to School Day may look different this year, we can still celebrate as a community. Start the day off with an enjoyable walk to school! Contact your school for site-specific meet-up locations. Share photos of your walk on social media and use #WalktoSchoolDay!
