Walking Wednesdays

Unlike the Walking School Bus, Walking Wednesdays does not require registration, volunteers or limits families to use a designated “bus route.” This program encourages families to walk with their children to school, helping to reduce car traffic and increase social connections.

Walking Wednesdays occurs on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on the elementary school, and encourages families to walk with their children to school. While walking is the focus of Walking Wednesdays, it’s important to note that other forms of active transportation like biking, scootering or skateboarding are also encouraged. No registration is needed. This program is for all Beach Cities students.

Beach Cities Health District will host a Welcome Walkers booth at participating schools to promote Walking Wednesdays, answer any questions and distribute promotional prizes to all students who participate on that day.

International Walk to School Day
The 22nd annual International Walk to School Day in on Wednesday, October 2, 2019! Beach Cities Health District will be walking to school with all of the elementary schools in the beach cities and giving out prizes for students who walk to school that day.
