Smoking Info and Cessation Resources

Smoking continues to be the leading cause of preventable deaths in America. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 19.3 percent of adults in the United States smoke, accounting for one in five deaths each year.

Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in our community.   Despite the known risks of premature death, disease and disability, nearly 10 percent of adults in the Beach Cities smoke.  Of more concern, approximately 5 percent of 11th graders in our community are habitual smokers (smoking daily during the past month).  Smoking is an addiction, but there are many resources available to help you, your family and your friends to break the habit.  Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or schedule an appointment with your health care provider today.
