Healthy Schools

Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) partners with elementary, middle and high schools in the Beach Cities to help keep health and wellness at the forefront of education. When schools have healthy environments, students thrive and are better prepared to learn.

School Wellness Councils
Advisory groups concerned with the health and well-being of students, teachers and staff. The councils set health priorities for the school year and collaborate with administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents and community members to create an environment that values health. BCHD is a partner with 21 School Wellness Councils in the Beach Cities. Social-emotional learning, employee wellness, parent education, physical activity and nutrition are just a few of the policies these councils oversee. LEARN MORE
