Board Member Election Process

The Board of Directors of the Beach Cities Health District consists of five (5) Directors, each of whom must be a registered voter residing in the District (see map of jurisdiction). Each Director, elected at large by District voters, serves a term of four (4) years. Any mid-term vacancies on the Board are filled by election or appointment, in accordance with BCHD Policy 2060, Filling a Vacancy on the Board and Section 1780 of the Government Code of the State of California.

Election for District board members is conducted by the County of Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (www.lavote.net). Elections for District Board members are commonly held in conjunction with the November general election. The four-year terms of office are staggered so that either two (2) or (3) board members are elected every two years. Information on filing for office can be found at http://www.lavote.net/Voter/Candidate_Filing.cfm
