LiveWell Kids

Obesity is a major health issue that frequently begins in childhood and adolescence. In a study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers found that obese children and adolescents are five times more likely to have a lower health-related quality of life, and greater psychological and social issues, than healthy children.

Data from the California Healthy Kids survey indicated approximately one-third of children in the Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD) were not within healthy fitness zones.  In some cases these numbers increased by up to 45 percent by the times students reached high school.

LiveWell Kids uses evidence-based strategies to change behaviors that are contributing to the rising epidemic levels of childhood obesity and related diseases like diabetes. By guiding children toward healthy eating and physical activity habits, these diseases can become largely preventable.
